Ivy Updates: "I'll Be Near You" and DVD/B-sides

A few bits of news and info, courtesy Andy.

For those who were wondering, "I'll Be Near You" (from the "Bee Season" soundtrack) came about this way. Ivy was asked by their label Nettwerk (who wanted to put the soundtrack out) and Fox (who oversaw the movie) to write a song for the film. They knew the musician scoring the film -- Pete Nashel -- from "Apartment Life" days; the film was flown out from LA for a special screening for the band. After meeting with the film directors and Pete, they went over ideas. The song got written here and there while the band toured earlier this year. And, Andy adds, not only did they like doing the song, they really liked the movie too.

As to the DVD/B-sides compilation: Andy really wants to do the B-sides soon, and with luck the rest of the band shares his enthusiasm! The DVD just will require the right window of opportunity -- but not all that far down the road.
